I have set up a new syndicated feed through LiveJournal. A syndicated feed  lets you watch updates to a website's RSS feed through your LJ friends page. The feed I created, <lj user=msnbcfaith>, is a set of news about various religions. If this kind of issue interests you, please feel free to add it to your friends list.

In other news, met up with Agape4Gondor, Linaewen (<lj user=lin4gondor>), and Mr. Linaewen for lunch. We then went to the park and talked Gondor. Among other things I got both of their approval for an OC in a currently-being-considered story, we discussed whether Dol Amroth would have pickles (consensus was yes), and ate delicious ice cream. Fun was had by all. Or at least by us three tolkien-fanatics, and even Mr. Lin seemed to tolerate our insanity remarkably well. *blows kisses to Lin and DH*

If you're ever coming through Cleveland and want to meet me, please let me know!

Oh, and one other thought for the HP fans: did anyone but me ever wonder why Harry wasn't pressed more strongly about Sirius? The thought occurred to me just a half-hour ago, that his permission form to go to Hogwarts was proof-positive that he had contact with a fugitive. You'd think, given the state of the ministry in his fifth year, he would have had more trouble with them over that. Just saying. :-)

Harry didn't need a permission to go to Hogsmead in his fifth year. In his fourth year he might have obtained it from his aunt and uncle, right? Wizards didn't know very well Harry's situation with Dursley, judging by their surprise when they witnessed theit lack of affection.

You may be right about people just thinking it was from the Dursleys. Certainly most people seem to think they're decent, though I would think some people would wonder what changed between the two years.

Out of curiosity, why doesn't he still need permission by his fifth year? Am I missing something on that count?

I may be mistaken, but I believe it's said somewhere that only third and forth graders needed permissions.

Remember, Fudge expected Harry to be happy to be able to return on Privet Dr. The only people who can be informed enough of Harry's life with Dursleys are members of OP (Wisleys, McGonagall, Dumbledore, Lupin? Who else?).

I never thought about that with Harry. Interesting that no one checked into it. Ah, fiction!

Well, I'm sure the realreason is that it was a plot device and something of a gag. But I did wonder! You'd think that someone (Filch?) would have noticed and told Umbridge, especially after Dumbledore's disappearance in OotP.

Ah, meandering thoughts! This is why I love fandom.

See, if you actually wrote any HP fic then this would be a gap to fill. You could have it looked into and have it result in some wizard rule in which they have to accept Sirius's signature because...

You're welcome. I haven't had a chance to read it yet (will tomorrow), but I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Sigh. Why, oh why didn't I know you lived in Cleveland when I got stuck there for six hours during Passover? You'd have been far more interesting than moseying around Terminal A, looking at shops full of sandwiches that I couldn't eat.

I guess I never did mention it before. Sorry I missed you! It would have been great to meet you.
